Laketown is a small, peaceful community of fewer than 300 residents on the southern shore of Bear Lake — a natural lake straddling the Utah-Idaho border in the valley between the Bear River and Wasatch Mountain ranges. The lake is famous throughout the West for its remarkable turquoise blue color, created by calcium carbonate (limestone) particles suspended in the water that scatter sunlight into vivid shades of blue and green.
